Tips for Building a Proper Hair Care Routine into Your Busy Schedule

**Collaborative Post** Honestly, anyone out there could probably agree that being a busy parent often feels like juggling ten things at once while someone throws in an eleventh. Just think about it, between work, school runs, meal planning, and managing the never-ending list of household chores, finding time to look after yourself can feel like a distant dream.

The crazy thing is that even thinking about finding time for yourself feels hard enough so trying to get healthy hair or even healthy skin feels next to impossible. Hair care, in particular, often falls by the wayside. Most of us just opting for a quick ponytail or swept back "Mum Bun" for ease of use and trying to squeeze another day out of not washing our hair. But taking care of your hair doesn't have to involve hours in front of the mirror or spending a fortune on salon visits.

You don’t even need to have a lot of steps either (regardless of what the internet tells you). So, how can the busiest mums build a proper hair care routine that fits seamlessly into their daily schedule? Well, here’s exactly what you need to know!

Why Hair Care Often Gets Overlooked

It's not really a secret that mums are often the busiest person in the household. Basically, from the moment the alarm goes off, it's a whirlwind of activity: getting the kids ready, making breakfast, packing lunches, and that's all before you even think about getting yourself ready.

Then there's the full day of work, followed by the school run, dinner preparation, homework help, and the nightly battle of getting the kids to bed. By the time you finally have a moment to yourself, the last thing on your mind is spending an hour on your hair.

So, it's easy to understand why hair care slips down the priority list when you're constantly on the go. However, at the same time, neglecting your hair can lead to issues like dryness, breakage, and even hair loss. This is especially concerning when you consider that stress—a common side effect of a busy lifestyle—can exacerbate these problems.

So, if you go online nowadays, you’re going to find expensive items to buy like Olaplex, or different oils, maybe even a lengthy process every other day. All of that can take way too much time and money that you probably don’t have (most people don’t realistically). So; let’s go ahead and take a look at what you can do during your incredibly busy schedule.

Just Try and Keep It Simple

When it comes to hair care, less is often more, especially for busy mums. But the key is to focus on the essentials and build a routine that’s both effective and time-efficient. So, just go ahead and choose a shampoo and conditioner that suits your hair type. So, this might mean you’ll have to spend a bit more, so it’s best not to choose the cheapest thing you see. So, if you’re battling dryness, look for hydrating formulas.

If your hair tends to be oily, opt for something lightweight. There’s no need to overcomplicate things with multiple products. Basically, a good shampoo and conditioner combo can do wonders when used consistently.

Make the Most of Your Shower

Now, most mums are lucky if they get five minutes of uninterrupted shower time. This is why it’s so important to make every second count. Ideally, you’ll want to invest in a good quality leave-in conditioner or a quick hair mask that can work its magic while you’re washing the rest of your body. These products usually only need a couple of minutes to take effect, meaning you can rinse them out just before you hop out of the shower.

If your hair is prone to tangling, keep a wide-tooth comb in the shower. Use it to gently detangle your hair while the conditioner is still in, which will save you time and effort once you’re out. This simple step can make a big difference in how manageable your hair is, especially when you’re in a rush.

Embrace the Power of Overnight Care

Overnight treatments are a game-changer for busy mums. Applying a nourishing hair oil or a leave-in treatment before bed allows the product to work its magic while you sleep. In the morning, your hair will feel softer and look shinier without you having to do a thing. It might even help to braid your hair before bed and use a silk (or satin) nightcap and pillowcase to prevent further breakage.

Don’t Neglect Yourself

So, not even the best luxury hair care products in the world can actually help if you’re not healthy or have some sort of underlying condition that’s causing hair breakage, frizz, or hair loss. So sometimes, you’ll need to find other improvements in your life.

For example, if you know for a fact that you’re not eating healthy, then you have to make a change. But even with what, if you’re still battling, such as with hair loss, then it’s probably also smart to look into hair loss treatment options (and yes, you can even get a consultation if you just literally lack the time to see a GP).

Overall, even with a chaotic schedule, there are very tiny ways that you can make a difference, and it’s so important that you try and do that. So, try your hardest to eat better, do everything in your power to stress less (that does cause hair issues), try to get more sleep, and do what you can to not neglect yourself.

Make It Manageable

The most important thing to remember when building a hair care routine is to make it manageable. Yes, you read that right! You don’t need to follow a 10-step process or spend hours in the bathroom to have healthy, beautiful hair.

Focus on the essentials, like washing, conditioning, and protecting your hair from damage. But of course, there’s the physical and mental health aspect, too. You need to suit your needs, and your needs aren’t going to be the same as everyone else's. So, for busy mums, time is the most precious commodity.

By integrating these simple, effective hair care tips into your daily schedule, you can take care of your hair without taking time away from everything else you need to do. After all, you deserve to feel your best, even on the busiest of days.

xXx
