GoPro Hero 12: The Must-Have Addition to Family Adventures

** AD - Collaborative Post with Very**

We are a family of four that consists of me and my husband (both in our thirties) and our kids, James who is almost 15, and Evelyn who is 10. As the kids have gotten older and a little more independent one thing we all love to do together is go on family adventures and try new things! From zip lines and theme parks to last-minute getaways to a new UK destination, we love getting to make new memories together and of course I always have my trusty camera or phone to capture all the moments.

When we were recently contacted asking if we would like to try out the new GoPro Hero 12, we jumped at the chance of being able to record all of our adventures a million times better. We opted to try out the GoPro Hero 12 and added the hand/wrist strap, waterproof casing, and the Max Grip + Tripod selfie stick.

But before I tell you all about how we got on, here is a little about the GoPro Hero 12 camera itself.

About the GoPro Hero 12

The GoPro Hero 12 boasts a remarkable 27-megapixel camera that fits snuggly in the palm of your hand. Yet despite its small size, every photo you take is crisp, vibrant, and full of detail. Whether you’re capturing the kids splashing in the pool, a scenic hike, or a day at the beach, this great bit of technology delivers stunning images that bring every moment to life. But the camera isn't just about stills, its video capabilities are equally impressive. With 5.3K video resolution at 60 frames per second, your family’s adventures will be recorded in ultra-high definition, providing a cinematic feel to your home movies.

There is also the inclusion of HyperSmooth 6.0 stabilisation technology, this means you can say goodbye to shaky footage (something I personally really struggle with when recording on my phone). Whether you're biking down a bumpy trail or chasing after a lively toddler.

If underwater is your thing (like my son who would spend his life in the ocean if he could!) the GoPro Hero 12 is waterproof up to 10 metres making it perfect for capturing action shots both on land and in the sea. Whether its snorkeling, swimming or a splashtastic day at the waterpark the GoPro will capture it all. Now I will say that whilst GoPro says the camera is waterproof up to 10 metres, reviews only claim that some users have had issues once they had used their camera in the water. These are of course just online reviews however I didn't want to risk my camera getting damaged and I purchased a separate waterproof casing which was relatively inexpensive just to be safe.

The GoPro Hero 12 also shines in its versatility. With an array of mounts and accessories available, you can easily attach it to bikes, helmets, backpacks, or even prams, ensuring you get the perfect angle for every shot. The camera’s intuitive touch screen makes it easy for anyone in the family to operate, even if they’re not tech-savvy. We opted for the selfie stick/tripod, wrist strap, hand strap and waterproof casing and these cover all bases for us in terms of what we might need for the camera and capturing all of our family adventures.

Sharing and Connectivity

In today’s connected world, sharing memories with family and friends is almost as important as creating them. The GoPro Hero 12 makes this easier than ever with its quick transfer options. You can instantly upload your photos and videos to your phone using the GoPro Quik app, where you can edit, add music, and share your content directly to social media. The Hero 12’s enhanced Wi-Fi connectivity ensures that this process is faster and more seamless than ever before.

For families who love to travel, the GoPro Hero 12’s long battery life is a game-changer too. It offers extended recording time, so you won’t have to worry about running out of power in the middle of a special moment. And when it’s time to recharge, the fast-charging capability means you can quickly get back to capturing your adventures.

Our Thoughts on the GoPro Hero 12

We have toyed with the idea of getting a GoPro in the past but were curious if we would use it enough to warrant the initial cost, however I can tell you right now that we have definitely been converted! We recently enjoyed a week in Cornwall and thought this would be the perfect time to put the GoPro through its paces and it didn't disappoint.

The lightweight camera and its small size meant you didn't need to lug around extra bags or carry a big camera around, in fact in fit in my handbag on most days out! We first tried the GoPro out on land where James used the hand strap to whizz down the quarry zipline with one of his friends....

He said the camera felt safe and secure the whole time and having it on his hand meant he could manoeuvre it to film him and his friend and the surroundings he loved.

Evelyn also gave it a test at Lands End using the selfie stick/ tripod and again had lots of fun. Like most pre-teen girls she is ALL about the selfie and the extending stick made it easy for her to catch great quality videos and pictures so easily. I love that the stick has 3 different lengths that can all lock into place for different angles and perspectives. The selfie stick can turn into a tripod perfect for capturing things like timelapse videos or even just "talking to the camera" content.

The GoPro was also great for group selfies, those mesmerising beach landscape shots and capturing the kids at any given moment. I will admit I am "the picture taker" in our family (much to my teenager's disgust) as I am always with my phone in hand capturing the moment. But time and time again I found myself opting to use the GoPro over my phone knowing I would get a better quality shot. Yes it did mean I then needed to download the photos to use on social media etc rather than just opening my phone, but for me the quality you get from the GoPro makes it totally worth while.

Conclusion

If you have been sitting on the fence about getting the GoPro Hero 12 my only advice would be to do it! I know that whenever we head out for a family adventure, day trip or holiday, the GoPro will be the camera I reach for. It's ability to capture the joy, excitement, and spontaneity of family life in such a small handheld camera is simply amazing and its combination of high-quality imaging, rugged durability, and ease of use makes it an essential addition to any family’s adventure bag. So, pack your bags, grab your GoPro, and get ready to make memories that will last a lifetime.
