AD: If the onset of the cold weather has you wanting to jump on the next plane to a sunny destination then know you are not alone! After a bit of a washout summer, I'm not sure I was all too prepared for the cold weather to set in so quickly either, especially after being so unpredictable over the last few months! However, it has got me thinking about where we might want to book our holiday for next year too and with the kids being a little older now we are looking for a little more luxury.
Don't get me wrong I love a good UK caravan break as much as the next person but sometimes it is nice to head off somewhere nice and enjoy all the perks that luxury family holidays offer for a week or two. Delicious food and drinks, lavish accommodation, and attentive staff are all perks of booking a luxury holiday and if your kids are a little older they will definitely enjoy it too. So with that in mind, today I am sharing my top tips for booking a luxury family holiday, the do's and don'ts to ensure you get the best out of your break!
Set a Budget
Whilst it may seem a little strange to talk about a budget when considering a "luxury" holiday the simple fact is luxury can be as expensive as you want to make it and if you don't set a budget you can easily end up spending a lot more than you want. If you go into a travel agent and say you want luxury they are going to show you some of their most expensive holidays, but you can still do luxury on a budget! Just let the travel agent know what you want, but also what your budget is, they can show you the top end of what you can get on your budget.
This also means you won't end up falling in love with a holiday you can't really afford because once you've done that, nothing else ever seems to compare. Don't forget you can always add extras on such as activities, excursions, better accommodation upgrades, etc when planning your holiday.
Work Out Your "Must Haves"
Everyone has a different idea of what "luxury" means to them. For some, it might be location, for others it might be the accommodation, the food, or even the staff. You might want to have your own private beach or even a private villa for example whereas others might be looking for fine dining options or lots of activities and excursions on offer.
The great thing is there is always something for everyone but before you decide on where you want to go, you really need to narrow down your "must haves" for your break. Think about what makes the break feel "luxury" to you, what is a non-negotiable that you must have on holiday. This will help you or your travel agent narrow down your search and ensure you only consider options that tick all your boxes.
Let the Experts do the Work
Travel agents are the experts when it comes to booking a holiday for a reason. They have access to a whole plethora of information, destinations, and helpful hints and tips to get you the very best holiday. Whilst you could of course book the holiday yourself, using a travel agent not only takes the stress out of planning for you they can also sometimes offer add-ons or deals you might not be able to access alone. They are also able to offer their unbiased advice and opinion as well as use feedback from others who may have been before to advise you on what to expect from people who have actually visited before.
