Subtle Ways To Switch Up Your Style

 **Collaborative Post**

AD: Are you bored of your usual look? Perhaps with Summer ending and Autumn beginning you want to switch up your look and try something new? Sometimes you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror and just think that something has to change. Maybe you've been doing the same thing for years and you know that it's time to switch things up. But just because you want a change, it doesn't mean you want to do something completely radical. Starting with smaller changes is a little safer and reduces the risk of doing something disastrous.

Before you go and do anything really drastic, you can take some little steps to find a new look that works out for you.

Try Some New Earrings

When you need a quick and easy way to accessorise an outfit, a piece of jewellery or two will do it. Earrings are always a good choice because they come in so many different styles. They can be as subtle or flashy as you like, so they're great for trying out something new. Plus, the different materials that are available give you a choice of colours and compositions. If you're looking for something with a low chance of allergies, titanium earrings are a pretty good option for sensitive ears. Try a pair of studs if you usually wear longer earrings, or something more dangly if you tend to stick to studs. A pair of statement earrings could really make an impact too.

Style Your Hair a New Way

It's common to get stuck in a rut when it comes to your hairstyle. When you've got a couple of styles down, you tend to default to them because they're quick and easy. It takes time to learn new ones and get faster at doing them. But if you want to do something different, a new hairstyle is a safe way to try something new. Even just changing your parting will change things up. If you're not sure about your hairstyling abilities, one of the best ways to learn is to watch video tutorials. They're easy to follow and will show you exactly what to do.

Give a Different Makeup Style a Go

A slight change to your makeup can be a fun way to experiment with your style too. One small change won't necessarily go unnoticed, but it's subtle enough that you won't be shouting about it from the rooftops either. There are lots of options if you're looking for a new makeup look, whether you want to change just one element or you want to go a little further. Try a new lip colour like a bright red or maybe something you can downplay a bit more. Experiment with your eyeliner, mascara, brow pencil, or anything else. If you usually have a heavier makeup look, go for something more subtle. Or if you tend to choose a more "no makeup" makeup look, you could step it up a bit.

Brave a New Hair Colour

Dyeing your hair doesn't have to mean choosing a shocking colour that will completely change your appearance. You can add some colour in much more subtle ways if you want to do something different but not go too far. Natural colours that are closer to your own hair colour can help to lift up your hair. You could consider something like getting highlights or balayage that incorporates the natural shade of your locks. If you want to go even further, you could dye your whole head but stick to natural hues that don't draw too much attention.

Get New Glasses

If you're a glasses wearer, you'll know how much they can impact how you look. Whether you wear them all day, every day, or you just get them out occasionally, you deserve a pair that you like. Some people will stick to a certain shape or style of frame if they know that it suits them. Finding the right style can be tough, so once you've found one, it's easy to keep relying on it. But if you're willing to try on something other than your usual style, you could find something you love. Online glasses retailers can send you frames to try on, or you might prefer to visit an optician and try some on in person.

Branch Out with Your Clothes

Experimenting with your clothes can be one of the most difficult things for people who prefer to play it safe. Get it wrong, and you could have an embarrassing memory that's tricky to forget. Depending on what your friends are like, you might not be safe from their joking, either. But it could be easier than you think to try out something new without making a fashion faux pas. There are lots of ways you might start looking for something new. You could take a look at the current trends or just start browsing some stores, online or in person. But you don't have to follow the fashion trends to try out something different.

Maybe there's something you've always wanted to try but haven't been brave enough to. Or you could be just starting to take an interest in a certain style that you've never really worn before. Starting with just one or two pieces of clothing that are different from your usual choices could lead you to an entirely new style. If you're not sure if something suits you, get a second opinion from someone you trust.

Accessorise More

Accessorising can lift up any outfit. If you feel like your outfits are always a little safe and boring, adding some accessories can change that immediately. And there are so many different accessories to choose from, so if you're not a jewellery person, you still have options. Scarves, belts, bags, and hats all count as accessories and can add to your outfit in lots of different ways. Accessories can be subtle or they can be louder and have more of an impact on what you're wearing and the style you present.

Changing your style doesn't have to mean doing something radically different. Small changes are a good way to experiment too.
