Organising a honeymoon can be a very stressful thing to do, especially if you are an older couple and already have children as you will need to consider a honeymoon location that can accommodate them. Obviously many couples will ask themselves whether or not they should take their children with them, but for a lot of couples they wouldn’t imagine not taking them.
The location that you choose will also depend on the ages of your children and your budget as well. If your children are at an age where they can look after themselves and do their own thing, then it might not be such a bad idea to have them coming along on your honeymoon with you, as you will still be able to spend some quality time together.
If you have decided to take your children
on your honeymoon with you then you will need to think about where you are
going to go, as it will need to be somewhere that will suit everyone’s tastes
and budget. You need to try to choose a destination that you both want to go
to, and somewhere that allows you to both spend time alone and to enjoy your
honeymoon. You need to make sure that you don’t allow the holiday to feel like
another family holiday.
Even if you have your heart set on a luxurious honeymoon destination such as the
Caribbean, there are still plenty of options for a family holiday. A lot of the
Caribbean locations offer family packages so you can combine a romantic
honeymoon with a family holiday!
The past 18 months have allowed families to spend a lot more time together and so for a lot of people they will want to include their children within their honeymoon, or if you have young children you might not feel comfortable leaving them with family or friends while you go away.
It’s important to remember that a lot of
family friendly resorts or hotels will have babysitting or childminding
facilities which will allow your children to be entertained during the day, and
give you and your partner some all-important time together.
We’ve put together some ideas for child friendly honeymoon destinations both abroad and at home.
Center Parcs
If you are looking at staying within the UK then a really good child friendly location is Center Parcs. They have locations all around the UK so you can either choose one that is close to you, or one that is further away if you’re looking for more of an adventure. There are loads of activities that you can do there such as swimming, walking, cycling and they have a lot of children’s activities as well so you can be sure that there will be plenty to do. The only downside is that it is within the UK so you will need to consider the weather and time of year that you are going.
Pine Cliff Hotel, Algarve
This luxury resort in the Algarve is a
six time winner of best family resort in Europe and has plenty of child and
family friendly activities for you to choose from. There are also activities for
you to do together as well as beautiful local beaches to explore.
Hotel Almyra, Cyprus
This is a stunning hotel which is within
walking distance of Paphos town and has plenty of family friendly activities
for you to choose from, as well as a luxury spa, so you can enjoy some relaxation
time as well.
Gran Hotel Roca Nivaria, Tenerife
This hotel has some recent upgrades which
has made the venue a lot more family friendly such as bespoke activities and a
kids club. There is also a luxurious spa which will allow you to relax and
enjoy some pampering for yourself as well.
London honeymoon experience
If you are looking to stay within the UK
for your honeymoon then why not go for a London honeymoon. The list of things
to do is endless, it will just depend on the budget that you have available.
You can visit the historical locations, or visit the classic sightseeing spots
in London. This would suit a family whose children are older, as it will allow
you to all do your own thing, as well as spending time together.
Whilst it of course comes down to personal choice, I really like the idea of the kids getting to experience the honeymoon as a lovely family break to celebrate together. Would you consider taking your kids on your honeymoon or do you prefer the idea of some alone time?
xXx
I always need to find new places to visit with the kids. I do love to travel abroad somewhere warm so the Algarve really appeals to me.
ReplyDeleteThese are such beautiful places to honeymoon. I'd visit them all - with out without kids, lol!
ReplyDeleteThese are some really great options, and I think it's nice to involve the kids if you have them. We're not sure what we want to do for our honeymoon yet x
ReplyDeleteThese all look like fantastic destinations. And indeed, London shouldn't be taken out of the choices and it offers so many fantastic experiences. During the pandemic I often came to London for different celebrations, as I wasn't able to go abroad. And every time I had a great time.
ReplyDeleteSome fabulous suggestions here and although I've already had my honeymoon, I can't wait to celebrate our wedding anniversary in these locations
