Waking up to a Snow Day!

I think it would be fair to say that recently we haven't had too much to look forward to recently. The now regular routine of home learning and a daily walk is already wearing thin and when Monday morning rolls around nobody is hopping out of bed excited for the day. Don't get me wrong, I am super grateful that I am able to be home with my little ones and that we are safe at home, but there is only so many times you can do the same daily walk or bake and it be exciting.

However yesterday when the weather warning for snow popped up on my phone a little glimmer of excitement struck across the kids facing. The promise of snow and something fun to do was enough to have them waking up mega early this morning to see if the snow had in fact fallen! And it DID!

Ok Ok so it wasn't as much as they were hoping and it was already melting by about 9am, but it was SO nice to see the kids waking up excited about something. For them to be jumping out of bed and asking to get outside rather than us persuading them to leave their devices behind for a walk around the block.

For a few hours we forgot about everything, we got outside and laughed... a lot! We threw snowballs at each other, made snow angels (James even attempted a dive... face first into the snow!) we made a snowman, sledged down hills and clung onto each other on the icy paths on the way home. We saw families out having fun together, we heard kids laughing and running around care free.

Just for those few hours we didn't have coronavirus on our minds. We didn't have the alarming figures popping up on our screens and we didn't have to stress about how we would keep the kids occupied during another day of lockdown. We just played. Carefree, belly laughing, fun.

Did you have any snow today or have you had any in the last few weeks? If you have what was yours or your kids favourite things to do in the snow? My husband was very sad he couldn't get on the kids sled lol! He is the biggest kid of them all I think.
