It is officially November which means it is less than one month until we can officially start counting down to Christmas day! When it comes to counting down the days people have lots of different ways but one of the most popular is an advent calendar.
But when it comes to choosing your advent calendar there are so many choices now that it can hard to choose. Will you go with traditional, chocolate, sweets, toys, beauty or even candles? With so many to choose from I have put together a selection of some of my favourite advent calendars and countdowns available for 2019 to help you choose.
For The Kids
Playmobil Christmas Ball Advent Calendar - £19.99
If you are looking for something that will last and be well loved beyond the Christmas countdown, this Christmas Ball themed advent calendar from Playmobil is a great option. The calendar celebrates Christmas with a selection of characters and accessories hidden behind 24 doors. After the 24 days, the calendar box itself transforms in a sparkling, festively decorated Christmas ball hall. It can then be used to play with alongside the figures and accessories collected during the countdown for hours of fun.

Whether you dislike chocolate, can't eat it for various reasons or if you are just looking for something different this large Haribo advent calendar may be just what you are looking for! It is packed full of a variety of different Haribo sweets including Maoams, goldbears, cola bottles and even tropifrutti, watch out for the packs that contain special Christmas shaped characters and items too. There are 24 doors in total on this calendar.
Smiggle Advent Calendar - £18.00
We all know someone who absolutely loves stationary and if that's you or someone you love, then this Smiggle advent calendar may just be the calendar for you this year. The Smiggle Advent Calendar 2019 has 25 days of limited edition Smiggle stationery surprises including 8 items exclusive to the calendar. It contains everything from pens and pencils to slap bands and keyrings, there is even a smuggle pencil case behind one door! Plus if that wasn't enough, every Smiggle advent calendar comes with a special ticket, if you find 1 of 30 lucky tickets you could win an amazing Smiggle shopping spree!
Traditional Christmas Card Advent - £2.95
I remember my nan having a traditional card advent calendar every year, and every year me and my sister would argue over who got to open the window and reveal the picture each day. We didn't care that there was no chocolate we loved finding the picture and I am so pleased to find one of these traditional calendars available this year. The calendar has 24 windows each hiding a picture and I think this calendar is a great way to introduce the Christmas story to children throughout the run up to Christmas. It is also FSC certified, which ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.
For The Grown Ups

So when I spotted this amazing wreath shaped advent calendar from Yankee candle I thought it sounded perfect. It contains 24 tea light candles in a range of classic best loved scents and some new scents to enjoy. The scents included in this calendar are 3 x pomegranate gin fizz, 3 x candlelit cabin, 3 x evergreen mist, 3 x after sledding, 3 x cinnamon stick, 3 x Christmas cookie, 3 x snowflake cookie and 3 x Christmas magic. If dark chocolate is your thing then this deliciously rick dark chocolate advent offering from Divine might just be the perfect way to countdown to Christmas for you. The calendar itself is decorated with a shimmering gold outer which immediately feels festive. Christmas Countdown Advent Candle - £14.00
Who remembers having a countdown Christmas candle when they were little? Or perhaps you still have one now? Norma & Dorothy have transformed the idea of the Christmas countdown candle with a modern, classic twist with their personalised Christmas candle which is presented in a apothecary style jar. It is then hand filled with a natural soy wax, scented with a festive orange and cinnamon scent. The jar can then be personalised with a personal name on the label which also has the December calendar on for you to cross off each day for every day you countdown. The candle has a 25 hour burn time, designed for you to be able to burn the candle for one hour each day before you cross of the corresponding date on the label. A lovely alternative to a traditional style calendar.
Beanies Coffee Advent Calendar - £20.00
Looking to start each day of your Christmas countdown with a boost? How about this super fun Beanies coffee advent calendar! The calendar comes in a large box which has 24 doors, inside you will find a ceramic mug, 46 Beanies coffee sticks in assorted flavours (2 sticks per day) and a mystery flavour 50g jar of coffee on Christmas eve, perfect to use for your Christmas morning cuppa!
I also came across these lovely vegan friendly calendars from Plamil , the oldest vegan company in the UK! These calendars are available in 3 different designs and are suitable for both adults and kids. Each calendar contains 24 delicious chocolates that are wheat, gluten and milk free and vegan friendly too.
