** AD - Review **
Spring is here and summer is well and truly on its way which means my attention has turned to tidying up our garden!
Our garden is small and when I say small I really mean small, but that doesn't stop the kids wanting to get outdoors and enjoy the sunshine at any given chance. So this year I have been looking at ways I can really utilise the small garden space we have to make it a bit more fun and enjoyable for the kids this summer. I realised I needed some fun new outdoor play equipment to entertain the kids.
So when the lovely people over at Little Tikes offered to send us one of their very cute Turtle sandboxes I knew it would fit perfectly into our small garden space, as well as providing lots of fun.
The Little Tikes turtle sandbox is a large green plastic sandbox in the shape of a very cute turtle The main sandbox is made up of the turtles body, head and legs with the lid representing the turtles shell. It can hold up to around 68kg of sand so plenty of sand for digging, building and playing with.
The sandbox comes complete straight from the box so there is no faffing to set everything up or building, you can just add your sand and away you go. The turtle sandbox is made from a strong, sturdy plastic with two seats moulded into the back legs of the turtle, giving kids somewhere to sit and dig if they don't want to sit in the sand itself.
A big bonus for me was the fact it comes with a lid! A few years ago we had a wooden sandpit which was fine, except for the fact it had no lid and despite our best efforts to cover it the water and bugs still managed to get in. It meant we were constantly buying sand which meant the kids couldn't play in it half of the summer which was really annoying.
The Little Tikes turtle sandbox has definitely been put through its paces the last few weeks with the good old British weather. From blazing sunshine to wind, rain and even hail but the sand inside our sandbox has stayed dry and clean, which is amazing. It has meant I can let the kids play in the sand whenever they like and no extra cost at replacing sand (well except for when it gets shovelled out by the kids!) which definitely gets a big thumbs up from me.
The turtle sandbox has lots of lovely moulded detail at the bottom including crabs and boats which encourages digging and makes it lots of fun trying to reach the bottom to discover the surprise. Evelyn had great fun digging down to see what she could find and then building sandcastles in the middle of the sandbox.
Over all the Little Tikes turtle sandbox has been a big hit in out house, especially with Evelyn who is about to turn 5. She has spent hours playing in the sand, digging for treasure, building sandcastles and just generally having fun. She even found some shells at the beach on our recent trip to the seaside which she brought home, washed and added to her sandbox which she has been using to decorate her sand castles.
It has encouraged her to get outdoors to play and to use her imagination which she has definitely been doing, we have had everything from fairy castles to igloos built so far!
The Little Tikes turtle sandbox is priced at £49.99 and is available from the Little Tikes website as well as Smyths, The Early Learning Centre and Amazon.
What is your childs favourite garden toy or game?

**We received the little tikes turtle sandbox for the purpose of this review. However all words, opinions and images are my own.**
Summer is coming! I love that this comes with a lid, we have some local cats who love to visit our garden so this would help ensure there are no 'gifts' left by them in the sand.
ReplyDeleteThis looks great and so durable. We love Little Tikes products in our house.
ReplyDeleteI love this turtle sand box, I know my little ones would play in this all day if they had the chance.
ReplyDeleteWe have one of these and they are great. The kids won't let me get rid of it!
ReplyDeletewe had one of these when the boys where small. The cover lid is a fab addition especially to keep cats out ha
ReplyDeleteDid any bugs get in? Looking to buy one for my kids but I had an open one and bugs got in all the time
DeleteThe lid is pretty good on this and fits well. We didn't notice any bugs getting in. Obviously, bugs could get it whilst it is open etc so not a guarantee but the lid isn't flimsy or anything.
DeleteI would have LOVED this when I was little! We never had anything like this :( looks like so much fun x
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute! It's great that it has a lid too for when the weather takes a turn!
ReplyDeleteAww I think we have the previous version of this sandpit and it's lasted us a good few years so far! You cant beat Little Tikes products!
ReplyDeleteWE have had one of these for years and it is still going strong!!
ReplyDeleteOh I remember my children having one of these when they were smaller. It has changed a little, but it is as cute as it always was. The bonus being the lid, so the sand doesn't get ruined in the rain and the price point is really reasonable, especially for something that will last for many years.
ReplyDeleteI’m sure we used to have one of these when I was younger! Lasted for years!!
ReplyDeleteI would have loved this as a kid as our garden was small too and there wasn't much we could do with it x
ReplyDeleteI remember having something similar to this as a child; a blue shell sandpit!
ReplyDeleteMy kids would love one of these, I always wanted one when I was younger.
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely sandbox and it's great that it has a cover to keep everything tidy and stop dirt getting in from garden.
ReplyDeleteI had one of these when I was younger and it was the best!
