James could barely contain his excitement when we learned that he was able to take his own stationary and pencil into school this year now that he would be heading into year 4!
He has pestered me for a fancy pencil case and all the pens he could find to fill it since he started school 4 years ago but school have always discouraged it due to things getting lost. However now he is in junior school they encourage children to bring their own stationary as school is often running low and it means kids have more options when it comes to getting creative with their work.
Of course we couldn't mention stationary without paying a visit to Smiggle, the rapidly growing retailer for stationary and the ultimate creators of colourful, fun, fashion-forward stationery that kids of all age seem to love... and its clear why!
Smiggle very kindly recently sent James and Evelyn a few bits from their back to school range to help them out in the new school year and they were so excited. Im pretty sure James hugged his pencil case for hours and was so pleased to finally have a pencil case of his own to take to school we hurried straight out to fill it with Smiggle pens and pencils too.
The pencil case is two sided with one side a shiny navy colour with the word Smiggle stitched into it and the other having a space themed design. The case has two zipped sections so we used one for colouring pens and pencils and one for writing pens, pencils and rulers etc. James quite happily fit all of his stationary inside this including a selection of writing stationary, colouring stationary, rulers and even a small calculator so its definitely spacious. It is fully lined with an orange material and both sides have a separate zip to keep everything inside safe and secure.
Every child needs a water bottle for back to school but if they are anything like my children they end up getting lost within the first week because everyone has the same "sports" style bottle and they get mixed up. However with Smiggle designs there is little chance of this happening. The fun and bright designs means your child can spot their water bottle straight away!
Im not a huge fan of the sports style pop up lid on other bottles as they often get chewed and leak! However the hard plastic straw with internal straw on these bottles feels long lasting and easy to drink from. The internal straw also comes apart for easy cleaning which was a big relief too. The kids have been trying out these bottles at school for a few weeks now and we have had no soggy backs from leaks and no sign of wear at all. These bottles really are leak proof and the bright fun designs means the kids can always spot their water bottles!

The final item we were sent was probably my favourite and I am not ashamed to admit I actually kept it for myself, Smiggle isn't just for kids you know!
How pretty is this unicorn notebook/diary!? It has a double sided sequin cover which as well as look amazing and sparkly its very therapeutic pushing around the sequins to change the colour on the front. There is also an elasticated strap to keep the book held together when not in use.
The notebook is A5 size and each page has ample space for writing whether it be jotting down notes, writing a diary or doodling. One of the features I particularly loved about this notebook is along the top of each page is a "mood chart" it has face symbols varying from happy - sad and everything in between for you to record how you are feeling or your mood on that day. There is also a weather chart to record the weather too!

We absolutely love the Smiggle items we have tried and know we will be adding lots more items to our collection in the future. The items are bright, beautiful and colourful and great quality too. James has been taking some of him stationary to school for the last few weeks since starting as well as using it at home for homework tasks and it still all looks new! No wear or tear, the ink in his pens is still perfect and despite rolling around in his bag for the last few weeks it still looks as good as new.
