The Yeoman - Sizzling Pubs **REVIEW**

I am always on the look out for family friendly places that I can take the kids for something delicious to eat that has a friendly family atmosphere. So when we were recently invited to try out the newly refurbished pub The Yeoman which is part of the family friendly Sizzling Pubs range situated in Witchurch, Bristol and we couldn't wait to try it out!

When we arrived we were really impressed with the look of The Yeoman, it certainly didn't look like a typical "pub" and looked really inviting. It has a small outdoor area with tables and patio area if you are wanting to enjoy a nice cold beer in the sun which got a big thumbs up from my husband!

There are two separate entrances at The Yeoman which are clearly visible, one is for the bar area and the other for dining. I thought this was a great idea especially when coming as a family as it meant we didn't need to walk through the bar area and could go straight into the dining area.

There were two area's to eat that we could see but we chose to sit in an area that was slightly sunken with a few steps down to the seating area. It felt cosy and quiet and perfect for enjoying a family meal. You will find everything you need on the tables including adult menu, kids menu, dessert and drinks menu's as well as cutlery, sauces etc.

Once seated we looked through the menu's and couldn't believe how much choice there was and everything sounded so good it took us some time to decide! There was something for everyone and the menu was split into sections such as "The Chip Shop" offering all your classics such as fish or scampi and chips, pie and chips and you can even order a curry sauce to enjoy with your meal. There was also the "Classics" section offering things like sausage and mash, chilli and cottage pie.

In the end I opted for the Skyscraper burger (Two beef burgers, rashers of streaky and back bacon with Monterey Jack cheese and American cheese sauce topped with onion rings.) priced at just £8.99 and it was absolutely huge! It came out really well presented and piping hot, I couldn't wait to get started and I wasn't disappointed as it tasted just as good (if not better) that it looks.

My husband opted for The Whole Hog ( Sticky BBQ pulled pork,  grilled pork sausages, 7oz* gammon steak, and a half rack of BBQ ribs served with seasoned chips, onion rings, BBQ beans, half grilled tomato and grilled corn.) priced at just £11.99. There was so much food on the plate and my husband said everything tasted great. He was really impressed that they had manged to get all the food out with everything still really hot and cooked really well.

James and Evelyn really enjoyed the kids menu too which whilst having some of the classic kids choices also had a few extra's on there that James especially really liked. There is a section for under 5's with smaller portions and a section for over 5's for those with a bigger appetite. You build you build with 3 easy choices (pick your main then pick and a side dish and a veg).

Evelyn opted for the chicken nuggets with garlic bread and beans from the under 5's menu whilst James went for the mini mixed grill from the over 5's menu. He loved the fact he could have a smaller version of something similar to his dad and it was great to see options like this on the kids menu.

All of the food we tried on our visit for a big thumbs up and that was obvious from all of our clear plates (something that rarely happens when we eat out with kids!). The food tasted fresh and was well cooked, it all came out hot too.

Despite feeling pretty stuffed from our delicious main meals we couldn't turn down the chance of pudding, especially after seeing all the offerings on the dessert menu. The kids menu have their own dessert menu which includes things such as strawberry waffle, custard faces and even ice lollies. Evelyn opted for the mini melt chocolate pudding and cleared her plate in record time.

James was lured by the huge sundaes on the adult dessert menu and so myself and James ordered one of the sundaes each. I went for the Black Forest Sundae whilst James went for the Cadbury Lovers Sundae and they were both amazing. Piled high with warm gooey chocolate brownie, chocolate/berry sauces, ice cream and lots of cream our eyes were definitely bigger than our bellies!

My husband went for the Nestle Rolo Cheesecake and he said it tasted amazing. It came with a big dollop of cream and he has already been talking about going back for the cheesecake soon so it must have been super good.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at The Yeoman and left with a full tummy and planning our next visit. The dining area felt cosy and really family friendly, we didn't feel like we were being judged if the kids wanted to get up for a wander around whilst waiting for food which meant we were relaxed too.

The staff all seemed very friendly and despite visit during an England World Cup game which was being shown it didn't feel rowdy or loud and my husband was very happy to be able to watch the game whilst he ate! The food did take a little longer than expected to come out (almost an hour) however we did arrive at lunch time peak around 1pm so this may have been why. It didn't bother us though and we would be happy to wait this long again as out food all came out well cooked and hot which made it well worth the wait.

Overall we would definitely recommend The Yeoman to anyone looking for a family friendly place to grab a bite to eat or even just enjoy a cold drink in the sun (or a beer watching the football for the dads!). There is so much choice, the food is delicious and we couldn't get over just how cheap the prices were.
