The Ramsey Lodge at Bluestone Wales **REVIEW**

You may have noticed through our social media pages that last week we were on holiday at Bluestone in Wales. We were extremely lucky with the weather and had a fantastic time (you can read all about our holiday here).

One thing that we love about Bluestone is the accommodation. From quaint cottages to huge lodges, one bedroom apartments to luxury bunkhouses sleeping up to 14 there is something to suit every taste and party size.

On this visit we stayed in a Ramsey Lodge which is described at "upside down living" and our lodge could sleep up to 4. The kids were super excited about the idea of upside down living with the bedroom and bathroom's being downstairs and the living area and kitchen being upstairs. It certainly took a bit of getting used to saying "going downstairs to bed!".

The lodge accommodation looks like a beautiful wooden log cabin hidden within the wood and between the tree's you see the lodges peeking out. Each lodge is provided with its own green space outside complete with patio, bike rack and picnic bench style seating so you can enjoy your meals taking in all the beauty around you.

All of the Ramsey lodges are detached lodges and come with a double and twin bedroom on the ground floor, with en-suite bathrooms.

Upstairs you'll find an open plan living area with a fully fitted kitchen complete with all the utensils and gadgets you could need for your stay. It even has a dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and even a high chair! Bluestone are certainly eco friendly too and have bins divided into compartments as well as spare bins for glass etc so recycling was made super easy during our stay.

The living area had a large comfy leather sofa with two tub style leather chairs situated perfectly next to the large patio style door so I could watch the world go by in comfort. It felt cost but spacious all at the same time and in the daytime the light from all the windows just floods in creating such a light space.

The Ramsey lodge has two bathrooms both en-suite. The kids bedroom that had two single beds in had a wet room style bathroom with a large shower area, toilet and sink. This was perfect for the kids bedroom especially after a rather sandy day at the beach, plus it was much easier to wash our toddler and it meant no awkward leaning over the bath kneeling down.

The main bedroom which has a large (very comfy) double bed with the most comfortable pillows I have ever slept on, had its own bathroom also which had a bath with shower over, toilet and sink. I did try the bath once but couldn't master how to get the water super hot (how I like it) and so just used the shower which was lovely. The kids loved the spacious bath though.

We really couldn't fault the cleanliness of our lodge. Everything was clean, tidy and in its space, the towels looks brand new and crisp white and the bedding smelling lovely and fresh. We were even provided with a hoover, dustpan/brush and iron/ironing board in a cupboard in the living area. These were definitely much appreciated with a toddler in tow!

Bluestone really have thought of everything when it comes to what a family might need when on holiday with stair gates fitted to the top and bottom of the stairs in our Ramsey lodge and a Mothercare travel cot and mattress in the bedroom. Whilst it doesn't effect us as Evelyn and James are a bit older I think have door locks or safety catches on the kitchen cabinets would have been a good idea to add that extra little touch for safety. I'd also love to have seen some corner protectors on the wooden table as the edges were just at the right height for a adventurous toddler to catch their head on.

I would thoroughly recommend the Ramsey Lodge to anyone who might be thinking of staying at Bluestone. We love the quirky upside down living and it never fails in making our jaw drop and hearts feel a little giddy with just how beautiful they are. When your sat in that armchair looking out at the beautiful woods and see a little rabbit hop by or a family of ducks waddling up to your patio its hard not to fall in love with everything about the accommodation and Bluestone, and that's exactly what we did... we totally fell for the charm, heart and feeling of family togetherness the Ramsey Lodge has to offer. I mean who wouldn't love waking up to ducks greeting you at the bedroom patio doors!

If you love the look of our lodge why not check out the full range of accommodation available at Bluestone or maybe even book your very own short break so you can see the beauty for yourself. Visit the Bluestone website here - www.bluestonewales.com.

Have you ever stayed at Bluestone? If so which accommodation did you stay in?
